Fact-Checking Process

How we verify every claim before publication

Accuracy is non-negotiable at Lumina Daily. Content about Scripture carries a special responsibility — misquoting God's Word or misrepresenting biblical history can mislead readers and damage faith. Our fact-checking process ensures every claim is verified before publication.

Scripture Verification

Every Bible verse quoted on Lumina Daily is verified against the actual text in the cited translation. We do not paraphrase Scripture and present it as a direct quotation.

References include book, chapter, and verse (e.g., Romans 8:28). The translation is identified either inline or in context. See our Bible Translation Policy for which translations we use and why.

Historical and Biographical Claims

Claims about biblical figures, events, dates, and settings are researched against established sources, including:

  • The biblical text itself (the primary source)
  • Established Bible commentaries (Matthew Henry, John MacArthur, Warren Wiersbe, and others)
  • Archaeological and historical references from peer-reviewed biblical scholarship
  • Theological dictionaries and systematic theology texts

We do not publish speculative historical claims as fact. Where scholarly debate exists, we acknowledge it rather than presenting a single view as settled.

Theological Assertions

Theological claims are evaluated against Scripture and the historic creeds of the Christian faith (Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed). We distinguish between essential doctrines (non-negotiable) and secondary matters (where sincere Christians disagree). On secondary matters, we present multiple perspectives fairly rather than presenting one view as the only valid option.

Sources We Use

Our editorial team draws from a range of established, vetted sources:

  • Primary source: The Bible in multiple translations (KJV, NIV, NLT, ESV, and others)
  • Lexicons: Strong's Concordance and Hebrew/Greek lexicons for word studies
  • Commentaries: Matthew Henry, John MacArthur, Warren Wiersbe, and other established exegetical works
  • Reference works: Theological dictionaries, systematic theology texts (Wayne Grudem, Millard Erickson)
  • Ministry resources: Focus on the Family, Desiring God, Got Questions, and other established Christian ministries

We do not rely on a single tradition, commentator, or theological system as our exclusive source.

Correction Process

If you identify a factual error, a scripture misquotation, or a theological misrepresentation, please contact us with:

  • The specific article title and URL
  • The nature of the error
  • A suggested correction with supporting Scripture or sources

We investigate every report and correct verified errors within 5 business days. A correction notice is added to the bottom of the affected article noting what was changed and when.

AI-Assisted Content

For content drafted with AI assistance (per our AI Usage Policy), the fact-checking process is identical — every claim is verified by a human editor. AI does not bypass any step of our verification pipeline.
